Here in Utah it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!  We have had several snowstorms and the mountain tops are a beautiful white.  I can't say that I'm glad for the snow, but the Christmas season really makes me so very happy.  

Last year around this time my son's school was putting the finishing touches on their Christmas production of Yes, Virginia The Musical.  He played the part of the "Jolly Gentleman".  I was so excited to go through the Ephemera Packs and ticket roll and find the perfect Santa embellishments for this layout.

I kept most of my design rather linear, but to shake it up a bit I added a little of the red stripe paper on a slight angle on opposite corners.  The title is cut with my Silhouette from two different pattern papers and then staggered slightly.  I decided to outline the red of the title with a white gel pen to make it stand out just a tad bit more.  

 

Often with just a little simplifying a layout design can easily be translated to a card.  This card I took the same pattern papers that I used for my layout, but from the 6x6 paper pad.  After adding a small printed tag and a few embellishments it was finished.  Quick, easy, and another Christmas card ready to give!

Hello Fancy Pants Designs readers!!  Today I'm here to showcase a recent trend in the scrapbook world:  BIG TITLES!!!  

This past year, Fancy Pants Designs had added some fabulous large alpha stickers into their collections.  They are just perfect to creative oversized titles!!

Here is the layout I created using the Merry Little Christmas collection . . .

To create my large title, I used a combination of the Fancy Pants Designs alphas in gray and the word "sleigh" cut from patterned paper.  To help the alphas "pop", I added in a few chipboard pieces, ephemera pieces, and brads.

To accent the right side of my page, I tucked an oversized tag behind a photo and layered up some chipboard and stickers.

I decided to type my journaling on a scrap of vellum and stitch it down to the left side of my layout.   This is a great way to document a story, without having to worry you might make a mistake on your actual layout! 

I also created a card using the same line.  I applied the large alphas to the card, spelling out "MERRY" three times.  I then used punched circles from various patterned papers, a small sticker sentiment, and my sewing machine to create a couple fun little border strips!!

Hello Everyone, Vicki here today to get a little "Retro" love going. Fancy Pants has a number of lines that have a fun Retro vibe going on, but for my card and layout today I choose the "Memories Captured" Collection.  So many fun colors and patterns to choose from, to get me in the mood to create something "groovy" lol 

I'll start with my layout first.

This photo is of my darling niece Neely and her fiancé Alan.   Although the actual photo wasn't a polaroid, that was the look I wanted to go with my retro style so I gave my photo a "yellowish" tint in Photoshop, cropped it square, and then trimmed it with the white border. 

Next, I have some fun mixing these fun patterned papers, then add this strip of cameras to create a border.  I decided to add Glossy Accents to the centers of the lens for a fun effect. ( but I wont do that until my layout is finished so there is less chance of me smearing it while it's still wet).

Circles scream retro, so I've cut circles from the "Panorama" paper. and added it to my layout using foam squares to give it dimension.

There are so many different Fancy Pants  papers and elements to choose from to make creating a retro style layout easy peasy!

 

Now, to share my card using the same line.

I just cant get enough of these cute little cameras  in the Memories Captured Ephemera Pack. I decided I really wanted them to be the focal point of the card.  The patterned photo frames work great for photos of course but I also love using them on cards. They are the perfect size.

Below you can see better what I was explaining above, what I was doing on the layout, by putting Glossy Accents on the camera lens.   I also did it on the camera, lens and flash on the card.  It adds a little extra interest and dimension.

The new Collecting Moments collection is full of fun clock-themed papers and embellishments.  I am excited to share a layout and card I created showing you some ways to incorporate this fabulous trend into your own projects!!

Across the top of the page I created a simple clock-themed banner by adhering elements from the ephemera pack and then stitching across them in a wave-like pattern. 

Below the photo I added a clock border strip.  I simply cut a strip of clock patterned paper from the 6" x 6" paper pad, adhered it down to the page, and stitched through it.

My title "If Time Could Stand Still" went along with the clock theme perfectly.   I added in a small decorative tag to the right of the title.  The tag, displaying a clock along the bottom, coordinated with the theme as well. 

For my card I chose to again incorporate the clock patterned paper from the 6" x 6" paper pad as a border strip.

Hi everyone!  We’re at the end of August and it’s definitely feeling like summer here in sunny Southern California.  Today I’m going to share a couple ‘sun shiny’ projects I created with some of Fancy Pants Designs’ sun-themed products.  

First up is a clean and simple beach layout.

The colorful Down by the Shore collection has some cute sun papers and accents.  I handcut the rays of sunshine from the backside of the Down by the Shore Strips Paper.   I filled the open rays with yellow seed beads.  I die-cut a sun from the backside of the Down by the Shore Sunshine Paper, then I topped it with the adorable “Summer Sun” flair from this collection.  

I added the little sun rub-on from the Down by the Shore Rubons set, and then I embellished it with tiny yellow rhinestones.  

Next up is a card I made using some of the sun-themed products.  I cut the card in the shape of a sun, then I added a decorative edge border to look like sun rays.  The card features the Down by the Shore Sunshine Paper and a “You are my Sunshine” sentiment sticker from the Park Bench collection.

Hi there, Kim here chatting about a trend I have been seeing around a lot lately: WAVES. 

The 'Down by The Shore' collection has some cute papers with wave designs, but I have a few wave ideas to show you using other supplies. 

I created this page using a few of these techniques:

Down by the Shore Wave Rider Paper / Down by the Shore Whale Paper / Down by the Shore Tape Stickers / Down by the Shore Label Stickers / Down by the Shore Brag Pad  / Down by the Shore Decorative Tags / Down by the Shore Pennants / Down by the Shore Buttons Set   /  Down by the Shore Rubons /  Down by the Shore Book Bands / Red Corrugate Paper / White Corrugated Paper / Cork Shapes /  Etcetera Decorative Tags / Artist Edition Wave Die cut stencil / 

 

Using a piece Down By the Shore Colorful Paper I hand cut a few fat water droplets to represent wave splashes. 

Grab one of the cute die cut stencil's & spritz with a couple of layers of bright yellow mist.

With long blade scissors free cut waves into strips of Wave Rider Paper & White Corrugated card. Lightly color the edges of the white card with blue crayon to add definition.

I also tried a couple of these ideas on some 'wave' themed cards.

Scalloped vellum topped with a folded scalloped strip, secured with foam squares for height; gives the little whale an ocean to swim in. With fat droplets for a great watery effect.

An ombre wash of inks topped with x2 layers of scalloped vellum create the perfect home for my 'book band' fishes.

Hello Fancy Pants Designs readers!!  I'm so happy you joined me today to share a fun new Trend...Whales!!  Have you seen those cute, adorable whales that are all over the new Down by Shore line?  They are so stinkin' cute!  And since I have a brand new little boy I thought it would be fun to make a mixed media canvas for his new room.

And here is a little "how to" on how I made this canvas. 

First, I went to Michael's and bought a canvas and it just so happened I found this awesome 13.5 x 13.5 canvas that had a frame cut out in it.  So after I opened the canvas I spread gesso all over the canvas to complete cover it. 

Next, I found a cute saying and typed the words in different fonts and printed it out on my Cameo.  I then adhered each letter down.

After I had the base down I started to embellish the canvas with tags, flags, flairs, rub-ons, and buttons.

And here is a close up where I used one of the decorative bags and the tag that is inside I wrote down his birth info.  Also see the fun orange/yellow paint?. I used one of the stencils and added some color to molding paste.

The new What A Wonderful Day collection is so gorgeous and full of fabulous cloud accents and embellishments! I opted for 2 different ways of using the clouds, one way for my layout and the other on my card.

For my layout I chose to use clouds as layering pieces, embellishments. I started my layout by deciding on a design. I cut my photo as a circle, as well as some patterned paper. I adhered them onto the background paper, alternating them with foam adhesive.

I then cut my clouds out using the cute cloud stencil from the Artist Edition 3x3 Shape Stencil Set. I used the What A Wonderful Day Outstanding Paper for my clouds.

Once I cleaned up the clouds (trimmed and erased my pencil lines), I picked different embellishments for each circle. I love the new Cork labels and shapes! They make such great layering pieces! I also used plenty of foam adhesive for depth and dimension.

To make the photo circle stand out a little bit more than the others, I matted it on a Filter Flower from the Artist Edition collection. I also used some of the alpha stickers from the Sticker Fundamentals sheet to add the location of where the photo was taken. I love adding alpha stickers to pictures!

For the card I decided to use paper and embellishments that already had cloud images on them. That gives you a more subtle look.

I thought the BFF flag Flair piece was a perfect fit onto the flag banner background! I added the Tape Sticker, sentiment and stitching and matted the background. After that I used foam adhesive for a little dimension and called it good! I love that I was able to use the strips paper without cutting all the strips out!

For my layout, I’d like to cherish my daughter’s pure innocence and beautiful nature of New Zealand. I thought that the basic woodgrain was perfect for my theme.

I painted a 3x8 quote stencil and a 3x3 shapes stencil with watercolor.

I layered a 6x6 patterned paper, a 4x6 brag pad and a turquoise corrugate paper as a photo mat.

Making cards with woodgrain is so fun. You can use it for any occasion.

Hi everyone! Tessa here with a fun trend - HOT AIR BALLOONS!

One of my fondest childhood memories is of a local hot air balloon festival. As the sun rose, my family and I would watch the empty balloons stretch across a field, then fill with hot air. They took on their round shape and stretched toward the early morning sky as they got taller and stood upright from their baskets. The colors and designs were glorious!

Then, we would watch them lift up and float away - hundreds, it seemed like, filling the sky.

Needless to say, I was so excited to see the hot air balloons make an appearance in the new What a Wonderful Day line. With a title inspired by those hot air balloons, I made a layout about the people who lift me up most - my sisters.

I loved the pre-printed diagonal of balloons, so I kept the rest of my design simple. To embellish the page, I die-cut clouds from the white corrugate paper. I love the texture the corrugated clouds add, especially lifted with dimensional adhesive.

The little hearts were fussy-cut from the heart tape sticker. The clouds needed some love, too.

While my scraps were on my table, I decided to make a card featuring a hot air balloon. I used my Silhouette Cameo to paper-piece a colorful, happy balloon. 

To make it feel like the balloon was floating, I used more dimensional adhesive to lift it off the card.

If your spirits need a lift, try paper crafting with the trendy hot air balloon. I guarantee happiness will result!
