Pocket Chick Pick: Jodi Wilton

Jodi's page really caught me eye. I love all the pink from the Beach Babe collection and thought it would be fun to create my own page inspired by this but in blue.

I love the beachy theme and took some pieces from both the Beach Babe and Beach Bum collections. They actually compliment each other rather well. I loved layering up the patterned paper and large wave Rub-on from Beach Babe along with the Glitter Cuts wave from Beach Bum. The Glitter Cuts are so fun to use and I really like that you can enjoy the glittery look without getting covered in glitter, they are so clean.

I really liked that Jodi added the stitched look to her LO which is something I also like doing to my work. So I've added some hand stitching too.

Jodi used the chipboard alphas for her title but I decided to use more glitter and used the Glitter Cut  words "Live Laugh Love" from It's The Little Things. This was so perfect for my page. And I loved the sunshine at the top right. Such a happy touch to finish off a page. So I used the sunshine Rub-on from Beach Babe, cutting it in half before rubbing it on to my LO.

Pocket Chick Pick: Zoe Nemburt

I really loved all the layering that Zoe did in her original layout, and I wanted to incorporate that in my own! I loved the central focus created by layering the large squares in the center of the page—and how it just draws you into the photo! Since I used a vertical/portrait oriented photo, I chose to rotate my take on the layout a little bit as well ...

Of course, I had to add my signature stitching, and my use of the chipboard birdcage echoes the glittercuts one in the original. I also chose to focus on the lighter colors in the same line of products, since my chosen photo is outdoors, of my sister and little niece in the cute dress we bought her for Christmas!

Pocket Chick Pick: Laurel Seabrook

I saw Laurel Seabrook's layout "Teenage Daughters" and fell in love with the different patterns and colors. I love the mixture of colors also, the yellow back ground paper just makes everything pop off the page.

The little details she placed on her layout help add alot to the theme of the page. I was inspired to make a layout using the some of the same patterns of paper. Which I can't say enough how much I love the It's The Little Things line of papers from Fancy Pants.

Pocket Chick Pick: Roseangela Philippsen

Roseangela's Layout, "I Love You ... treasures of my life," grabbed my attention right away. I had seen this layout posted before somewhere else and knew I had to lift it somehow and then ... I saw it on the Fancy Pants Facebook page and score! I chose this layout because it has so much detail and tiny little elements of cuteness that made me want to look at it over and over.

I wanted to create a layout that caught my eye as well as much as this one did. Roseangela's layout had some fussy cutting on it and I chose to do the same using the Beach Babe collection. She also has a lot of dimension on her layout, so I did that as well using pop dots.

I was drawn to the paint and hand stitching on Dayna's page as well as the fun use of the label and journaling stickers to border the top and bottom of her photo.

I love Dayna's strong page design and kept mine very similar to hers. I used Fancy Pants' new To the Moon collection for my page and opted for machine stitching rather than hand-stitching.

Pocket Chick Pick: Tracie Hudson

I love seeing all of the gorgeous creations being posted by Fancy Pants fans on the Fancy Pants Facebook Page. There is so much eye candy and I can tell everyone is having fun with the product. While perusing the FP wall photos, I was struck by Tracie Hudson's super cool layout and knew right away I wanted her to be my Pocket Chick Pick.

 

Surfed Out by Tracie Hudson

I love the playful look of Tracie's layout. She was inspired by one of the sketches over on the Pencil Lines blog. If you've never checked out Pencil Lines before, you should. It's a great resource for inspiraton when you need a starting point for your next layout. What I loved about the sketch she used, was the background design element that creates a column from the top to the bottom of the layout. Tracie's use of the Beach Bum: Hang Ten paper was so clever. I love how she fussy-cut around the stacked surfboards. For my main photo backdrop, I punched circles from various paper from the It's The Little Things collection, layered and stitched them down.

I also love how Tracie used the negative space at the top of her main photo as a backdrop for her title. I took advantage of the negative space at the top of my main photo too, placing a strip from the Beach Babe: Strips paper across the photo.

Pocket Chick Pick: Heather Robertson

I just love Heather's work. She has shared a few layouts with us on the Fancy Pants Facebook page. I was particularly inspired by her beautiful "Cherish" layout that she created. I love the layout of her layout. :) I basically used it as a sketch and lifted it for my own layout. I also love Heather's stitching and distressing. She used techniques on her layout! So I was inspired to throw in some fun techniques on my own layout.

On my "3" layout (yes, I used the fabulous playing card 3 image for my title), I incorporated a little bit of hand-stitching. I also covered my background circle with a crackle technique and then sprayed with some pink mist to fill in the cracks a bit. I also played with ink on the Artist Edition Filter Paper Embellishments. I just can't get enough of those filters ... love them! I am very happy with the way my layout turned out!

Pocket Chick Pick: Alicia Geiss

I was so excited when I got my Pocket Chick Pick blog slot...and had so much FUN browsing through the Facebook Fancy Pants gallery at everyone's gorgeous work! You are all so talented which made my decision to find a single page to lift, a difficult one. I finally settled on this beautiful page by Alicia Giess. I was drawn to her use of multiple photos and diagonal placement of her accents.

Now before I show you my page I'd like to embellish on the creative process that lead to my take on it. At first glance it isn't obvious that I lifted Alicia's page. But...she cried with a wicked laugh: "I absolutely did!"

To make my lift transition easier to visualize, I created a basic sketch for you to follow.

I focused on Alicia's use of 4 photos, her diagonal placement of her embellishments, how she created her accents by cutting up a piece of patterned paper, the way the title is placed above the photos and the journaling positioned at the bottom right corner.

Oh Boy by Kim Watson

A crazy, fun and very typically boy page of my little guy using the NEW To The Moon collection. In keeping with Alicia's idea I cut up a piece of Shooting Star paper and a journaling card for my shooting star accents.

I also positioned my title above one of the photos and wrote my journaling on the bottom right corner like she did. Two pages 'light-years' apart (haha! no pun intended) yet similar in design. Sometimes 'lifting' a lovely page isn't so much about copying it, as it is about inspiring a creative direction.

Pocket Chick Pick: Becky Nearing Williams

Hello everyone! Yuki here with my Pocket Chick Pick from our Fancy Pants gallery on Facebook. I chose Becky Nearing Williams, whose layout immediately caught my eye with all of it's fun little details. I especially, loved her use of die-cut paper. What a clever idea! I really wanted to try out this, so I used the same basic design on my layout.

I used a cute die-cut paper from Love Birds collection for my layout. I hand cut the hearts and swirl from the Sweetheart paper found in the Love Birds collection, too. The snowflakes are rub-ons from Tradition collection.
