New Release: Country Boutique + Giveaway!

I am excited to be introducing one of my all-time favorite collections ... Country Boutique!  We've had similar comments from our team and store owners that they LOVE this line, too, so we are looking forward to hearing your comments and thoughts about this chic new line! Just some fun little history on it's 'creation'—This line started out with a wedding collection in mind! The color pallet was simple and ideal for wedding photos, projects, invitations ... everything you could think of! Then, I thought, why can't this line have more than one direction—so, we changed the focus to country chic, and kept our wedding incorporation in there, too!  And Country Boutique is the end result—Chic textures, vintage wood grains and patterns that will make your heart flutter :)!

This line is so awesome for ANY subject or season or boy or girl! That's what we love about it ... and, to keep our original concept, it also includes a beautiful set of more elegant papers for wedding accents!

Oh, and don't miss the super cute die cuts and banner die cuts that make the pages pop just enough to highlight your photos! Wait, there's even more ... we are so loving new dimension that we've also added corrugate papers and glitter papers to the line for unique embellishing! YAY! I am so excited about these fun and simple additions to our line and hope you will be, too!

Brag Books

Have you ever used one of our Brag Books? If you haven't, you have to try one. They are a great way to document on the go, keep little bits of this and that, and their sturdy covers and binding can stand up to lots of wear.

Today, Tracie Hudson and I are showing you a couple ideas for using these awesome books. The book I'm using is in Sand. It's the newest additon to the Artist Edition collection of Brag Books. I love the soft subtle color of the binding and the white flourishes and journaling lines on the pages.

I created this book using the Be You collection for my youngest daughter, who just turned four. I saw an idea on Pinterest that suggested asking your child 20 questions on their birthday each year, starting at age 3. I asked my daughter these questions and recorded them in this book.



Some of her answers were too cute! What do you want for dinner on your birthday? ... Something with fish in it ... and cake! Ha!





I used the divided page protectors to keep recent photos I took of her.



I stashed a few odds and ends in one of the pockets as well. All things that are special to her right now at age 4. A practice sheet for the letter J, some trading cards she collects, and a photo strip of her and I on a recent visit to the mall.

I love how thick the Brag Books are and that I'll have lots of room to record her answers for when she turns five, six, and so on.

Tracie used one of our Brag Books from our origianl release. She explains how she used it...

"The compact size of the Fancy Pants Brag Books make them the ideal travel journal and this journal is destined for Australia. As soon as I saw the Summer Soul Collection I immediately knew that I wanted to team the collection up with a Brag Book to create a special gift.

 
For the past two years my friend, Laura Crane, has been a member of the Great Britain Surf Squad and next week she heads to Australia to join the squad for training. Whilst Laura is away she will discover if she will has made the 2012 Squad, which will be heading to Panama for the World Junior Surfing Games in April.



This Brag Book will be accompanying Laura on her travels as she documents her journey to the other side of the world in words and pictures. With plenty of pockets inside the Brag Book, Laura will be able to safely store the ephemera from her travels, thus creating a keepsake she can treasure for years to come.





A little tip to share - to protect the photograph on the front cover from becoming scratched or damaged, I simply covered it with a sheet of acetate."

I began with these photos of my daughter at summer, and the bold polka dot paper was the inspiration for this page. I wanted the page to convey the happiness of my daughter. She loves summer. She is constantly moving, so it is rare to capture a photo of her in the water. So there are lots of circles on this page, to add a playful feel to the page. I also punched confetti to use as rays for the sun, and randomly placed a few on this page. Now, I am ready for summer to arrive."

Pamela says, "I weaved two papers together for my background, then added the fun orange waves that I cut out. The Glitter Cut originally said Summer Soul but I used my white chipboard letters to cover up the soul with studs. Those bursts on the top and the bottom right are a fun new stamp ... and I love it!!

Childish Things

We're back again today with TONS MORE inspiration! This time the Pocket Chicks are struttin' their stuff using Childish Things—a playful mix of patterns and colors that reminds you of the fun of being a kid!

Penny Pony by Amy Peterman
I loved working with Childish Things! The little horses in the collection are too cute (I mean, what little girl doesn't want a pony!?) and perfect for these photos of my daughter riding Sandy the penny pony at our local grocery store. It's the highlight of our shopping trip every time! I love the Chipboard Elements! I used a border along the bottom of my main photo and isn't that little crown adorable? And the Chipboard Banners are great for little accents here and there. I used a couple to create a "fair ribbon" along with one of the Filter Embellishments and a pony cut from the Playtime patterned paper! I also used one at the top of my layout and wrote the date on it.

Suzanne says, "I had so much fun creating with this collection. I think this one has to be my favorite. As soon as I saw the prince design on the page, I was inspired to document these photos of my sweet son. Love the designs, and the flocked star transparency. The colors of the paper are fun, bright, and playful. I kept wanting to add as many layers of the paper as possible! Stamping is such an easy way to add more detail to your pages! I added a border of hearts using the heart stamp within the  collection. So happy to see stamps as part of their new releases!"

Jess says, "Childish Things is so full of whimsy! This card plays on that whimsy with a set of lollipop flowers made from patterned paper. I stitched the stems and leaves as well as the ruffled blue strip of paper. I offset the punched bottom so we can see the adorable red checked paper on the inside."

Pamela says, "I started by cutting some squares and thinking I was going to make a quilted-look to the background. But then I decided to have a little more fun and just scattered the squares instead, with no rhyme or reason to it.  :) I love that cute image of the girl with the crown, so I popped it up and scrunched a plain filter flower behind it."

Sarah says, "I was so inspired by the red gingham print and those adorable little bicycles in the CHILDISH THINGS collection! I knew instantly that I had the perfect photos! I created the flowers by simply using 2 different sized flower punches and layering them together. There was also a fantastic date/journaling oval that I cut from pattern paper then printed my journaling right on top. I really love how well the variety of colors and patterns work together in this collection!"

Pamela says, "I just love this background piece and I knew I wanted to use it for a fun layout. I had these pictures of us playing a dice game called Farkel and knew it was perfect for this paper line. The little girl with the crown on her head was perfect for my queen layout."

Sarah says, "I was completely inspired by the beautiful mix of patterns and colors in the CHILDISH THINGS collection along with the fun and adorable accents! I am one of those people that love to mix red and pink, so I knew that I wanted to create a layout using the soft distressed pink solid and the lovely red gingham. By creating a banner using a corner punch for the decorative tips, using fun pom-pom trim, and and various accents cut from the pattern paper, this was the perfect mix for a couple of fun photos from my son's first birthday party!

Sarah says, "I was inspired by all of the fantastic patterns in the BE YOU collection, and I wanted to create a layout that showcased many of those fun and happy patterns. So, I used circle punches to add to the teal pattern background paper, and then I accented the layout with hand cut flowers from the pattern paper. I also added doodling around the circle punches and my punched hearts to coordinate with the doodled look in the papers. I knew that my photos of my kids dancing in the rain would be just perfect with these fun and happy pattern papers!"

Besty says, "I am totally in love with the colors in this collection. And that Subway Art paper? Completely awesome ... although a bit intimidating at first! I had fun cutting it apart to create a big, bold title for this page about my daughter who is definitely her own little person—with a whole lot of personality!

Piradee says, "I just had so much fun creating with this collection, the fun colors and adorable designs; I think that bird is the cutest ever and loving especially the flocked transparency in this collection as it adds just the right amount of design and color that I needed for the background and provides the contrast to the fun colors in this collection."

Jess says, "Be You is my favorite new Fancy Pants line! I love how easily this collection can be used for either a girl or a boy. I chose to do a boy page and used the gray/yellow/teal colors with a black and white photo of my son. The large star is stitched. I added the chipboard banner to the upper corner for balance."

Pamela says, "That chevron paper is so great, it makes for an easy background. I played off the pattern and added stitching around it. I added a couple banners to the right and then I cut the shine piece from the cards paper and popped it up off the card. This is a very simple, but beautiful card."

Suzanne says, "I love the fun, and vibrant colors of this collection! It definitely is full of funky, and fun designs! As always, Fancy knows how to mix a variety of papers to create a mix that is fun, and adds lots of interest  to your pages! This collection is about documenting your story, and personality. This collection captured my daughter's personality perfectly!"

Sarah says, "I was inspired by all of the fun flower prints in the BE YOU collection, and I created a layout based off of those patterns. I created a mask on the background of my page by simply using punched out paper hearts, misting over them, then doodling around the border of the hearts. I used a filter paper embellishment behind my photos that I printed in black and white and only the front photo in color to coordinate with my YOU SHINE page title."

Jess says, "I really love these metal frames and charms and wanted to make something that could be worn or hung to remind me to "Be You". I used a rub-on in the frame and made a teeny accordion flower charm to hang from the top."

Live In The Moment by Pamela Young
Pamela says, "I just loved the patterned papers in this collection so I decided to cut several large hearts from some of my favorites. I LOVE these colors and wanted a bright and fun page, to go with the bright and fun personality of my little girl. I really had a blast playing with these papers and can't wait to play more."

Find What Makes You Happy by Sarah Mullanix
Sarah says, "I was really inspired by many of the doodled images in the "Be You" collection. The colors are fun and playful, and I wanted to create fun playful accents to coordinate. So, I used the filter paper embellishments and cut strips from the outside edges to the center point of the filter paper creating fringed strips all the way around. Then, I adhered the tips of the cut strips to the center point of the filter and added a center to create these fun flowers!"

CHA Winter 2012 Reveal: Brag Book

The last look for this week is an addition to our Artist Edition series and our Brag Book selection! You've seen the awesome new Brag Book Kits that are presented with each new collection so we needed one more nice color to round out the release!  The color of our latest Brag Book is Sand :)! Exciting name, right?

So, I'm not always great at naming items, but I do think the color is a nice fit for any of our new collections ... especially those beachy summer lines ... do you agree?
