Hello Everyone, Vicki here with a challenge for you. I love repurposing things! Whether it’s something you don’t care for anymore or something you found on a clearance table. Seeing things in a new way. Seeing the possibilities. The thought of turning it into something you love, by using beautiful papers and embellishments. And what better to use than the new “ Memories Captured” collection, which is what I chose to use for this project.
So my challenge is “Repurposing”
I was inspired by the idea of repurposing these square tin décor pieces from a clearance table, and making them into a four piece set “wall grouping” that would work as a photo holder and message board. The chalkboard tape and cork shape were also a huge part of this inspiration.
Memories Captured Panorama / Memories Captured Photos / Memories Captured Shining Star / Memories Captured Say Cheese / Memories Captured Snap Shots / Memories Captured Memories / Memories Captured Family Album / Memories Captured My Family / Memories Captured All Smiles / Memories Captured, Captured Stripes / Memories Captured Tape Stickers Memories Captured Label Stickers / Memories Captured Sticker Fundamentals / Memories Captured Patterned Envelopes / Memories Captured Flair / Memories Captured Buttons / Black Alpha Stickers / Cork Labels and Shapes / Chalk Labels and Tape
Here is a side view so that you can see they are approximately a ½ deep. If you want to create a project like this and don’t have these exact tins.. no worries. Cookie sheets from the Dollar store work great also. Or pizza pans for round ones. Why not?
So here is what I started with. eek I know! lol But the price was right. And they have been in my box of “to alter” for quite some time now.
I found them in the clearance isle for $2.40 each
I didn’t really have much prep work to do before I started adding my papers and embellishments. I just took pliers and removed the purse that was attached to the tin, and I was ready to go.
You might want to sketch out how you want yours to be laid out before you start, that’s what I did. I knew I wanted a place to add the chalkboard tape on one, the cork shapes on another and places for some magnets for holding photos.
I love to be able to change out photos and keep them current. I used magnets in a couple of different ways on this project so I would be able to do just that. I hot glued magnets to the back of my Flair pieces to use them to hold my photos to the tin.
Here I added a strip of magnet to a strip of paper that I cut about the same width. I’ll be able to tuck a number of photos under this strip and change them out any time I want. You can also see below that, were I’ve added the Chalkboard tape to be able to write messages.
I adhered my cork shapes and then hot glued flat push pins to pieces from the Button Set, so that They could be used to add photos or notes NOTE: I used a needle nose pliers to cut off a bit of the end of the push pin so the pin part wasn’t so long.
So there you go. Something not so cool turned..in to something new and fun to enjoy hanging on your wall, and that you can actually use!
I hope you are inspired to make something old, ..new again, using gorgeous Fancy Pants papers. Before you drop off donation box in the garage… you might want to look through it one more time J There just might be something that needs altering.

This is one fabulous idea, Vicki! Love your creative alterations, especially making them changeable with the magnets and magnetic strips. Something I am definitely going to try!
