Happy World Card Making Day! We're so glad you are here! We've got a special post today, full of fun!
First off, we hope you are enjoying hopping around to all the different blogs who are participating in this special day. We love that so many people are coming together to share their love for card making, as well as reaching out through Operation Write Home to the brave men and women who protect our freedom!
For this blog hop, we asked our Pocket Chicks to base their card creations off some OWH sketches. Here's what they came up with uisng Sketch #77, #123 and #36.
Hi by Kim Watson
Kim
says, "I felt so inspired by the sketches being featured on the Fancy Pants Designs blog in support of OWH that I thought the fact that I live in Africa shouldn't stop me getting some cards together for this worthy cause. I imagine finding out where my cards originated from would be cause for a joke or two amongst the USA hero's abroad. LOL! When designing them, I tried to keep the cards free of flowers and as unisex as possible, which wasn't as difficult as I imagined once cracking open my long awaited box of latest amazing Fancy Pants Designs collections. Using The Good Life products for this card I layered some circle
shapes again; slipping them under a contrast strip for variety &
instead of hearts added flags & a sentiment. For something a little
different, I cut a diamond shaped all-over design in white to create a
fun background texture, filling in a yellow diamond here & there for
a flash of unexpected color."
Joy by Pamela Young
Pamela says, "I created this card based off OWH's Sketch 77 using the fabulous Home For Christmas collection. I stamped the word 'Joy' on the background, and for a fun and funky scallop border on the bottom, I adhered chipboard buttons and then layered on top of the bottom half of the buttons a strip from the Tape Stickers sheet."
Merry Christmas by Amy Peterman
I flip-flopped the design of sketch 77. I layered some Tradition Filter Embellishments for the circle element in the sketch and added a couple brads and a Mingled Button to mimick the small heart elements. My card base is the Stars and Holly patterned paper from the Tradition collection and I finished off the design with the chevron stamp from the new Home For Christmas collection.
You Super Star by Kim Watson
Kim says, "I made this card using Little Sport. I followed the basic design, omitting the central circle & swapping out the hearts for a title, flags & stars. The addition of red chevrons & colorful stars made the card masculine & fun too."
Noel by Pamela Young
Pamela explains, "This card uses OWH's sketch 123 and the wonderful Home For Christmas collection. To layer the chipboard on top of chipboard, I used a 3D adhesive. This sketch was a no brainer with the fabulous banners that Fancy Pants Designs has with their collections."
Live Laugh Love by Kim Watson
Kim explains, "Again using the fabulous The Good Life collection, I changed things up a bit. I turned the sketch vertically, using central rectangles for the positioning of the sentiment. The amazing thing about the sentiment is that it is actually one of the NEW lines Fancy Pants released at the last CHA, 4x6 Brag Pads. They are little booklets filled with different card designs perfect for scrapbooking pages and cards alike. Lastly I added some bright pennants, cloud shapes & a button trim to finish it."

Gosh You're Awesome by Kim Watson
Kim explains, "For the last sketch number #36, I really took creative license. More The Good Life, but again I turned the sketch vertically & opted for a top opening card this time. The 3 x 3 1/2" rectangle was interpreted into complimenting patterned pennant shapes for a modern twist; with great results."
So, how's that for some card inspo? Want a chance to get your hands on some of the Fancy goodness our Pocket Chicks used on their cards? Here's two ways you could win!
