Hi everyone! It's Amy Heller here today I'm so excited to be guesting for Fancy Pants this month! A little about me:
I was introduced to scrapping in 2004, like many scrappers, from an in-home party. But I didn't scrap with real consistency until 2008, once my kids were a bit older and out of their infancy stages. :) As a graphic designer by profession, this hobby has brought me back to the fundamental reasons why I fell in love with design in the first place: paper, color, letter form and layout. My style has of course evolved from those early days. Now I would definitely say that I have a fun, cheerful, colorful and whimsical style. I LOVE to layer pattern, color and texture (especially with buttons, ribbon and sewing). I think it's safe to say that I love to embellish on my work. :) I currently design for Two Peas in a Bucket as a Garden Girl, October Afternoon, and Lily Bee Design where I serve as the Design Team Coordinator. I've been fortunate to have had my work published in several amazing magazines ranging from Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbook Trends, CARDS, Paper Crafts as well as Scrapbooks and Cards Today. I am from the beautiful state of Washington, but I currently live in a small town in Connecticut with my awesome husband of 12 years, our daughter, who is nearly 10 and our son who is 6.
I had the terrific opportunity to work with the very newest collections from Fancy Pants Designs, Hopscotch and Home for Christmas. I had so much fun with both collections. They are both wonderfully versatile and beautiful collections!
You Are My Sunshine, My Only Sunshine
At first glance Hopscotch may appear a very Spring or Summer-inspired collection. Of course you can certainly use this collection for those seasons, but since we are headed straight into Fall here in my neck of the woods, I thought I would try to use this fabulous collection for some photos I took recently during our transition from Summer to Fall.
I used the circle that is drawn on this background sheet as the jumping off point for my warm late-summer sunshine in the corner of this page. It also serves as a great shape to frame my photos that I wanted to layer up with lots of movement, just as if my son is swinging on the swing right on the page.
Smiles Are Soul Kisses
For this next page, I really wanted to bring Hopscotch right into Autumn. The warm oranges, yellows, browns and tangerine hues make it a cinch to create beautiful fall layouts.
I really love the ombre effect in the background papers and the polka dots here, coupled with the white washed papers add lightness and warmth. Not all fall pages need bee dark and heavy, and these papers display that perfectly!
Christmas Cards Set
I just love the Home for Christmas collection! Filled with warm traditional colors coupled with trendy patterns make this a wonderful collection for this upcoming holiday season.
I created a set of cards using all aspects from this collection, from banners, stickers, ribbons, alphabets and buttons, I know that I will be making many more holiday cards from this collection. It really is lovely and warm without being too conservative, which I love!
I sure had fun with these latest collections, Hopscotch and Home for Christmas! I have loved working with Fancy Pants Designs this month and hope you are just as inspired to work with them, as I was! Thank you so much for having me join you this month! Please stop by and visit my blog.
