With autumn fast approaching, I thought it would be really fun to create a sweet leaf wreath for our home! We don't live in an area where the leaves fall, so this is as close as I'll get! I love the soft, sweet colors of the Summer's End collection! I'll enjoy every minute of this autumn season with this reminder to be thankful every day!
Fancy Pants supplies:
Summer's End: Patterned Papers
Summer's End: Glitter Cuts
Summer's End: Design Embellishments
Summer's End: Chipboard Elements
Summer's End: Chipboard Banners
Summer's End: Buttons
Summer's End: Filter Flowers
Summer's End: Trim Card
Other supplies:
Leaf Die
Flower Die
Embossing Folders
Chalks for distressing
Glue Gun
Twine/Embroidery Floss
Sheet of corrugated cardboard {to cut your circle base from}
Sewing machine and thread
Piece of Jute Twine {for button center}
Instructions:
Start by cutting the pieces you'll need:
• 1 large circle from corrugated cardboard. Mine was 11.5" in diameter. Remove the center.
• 100-120 leaves in a variety of the Summer's End pattern papers and solids.
• 2 diecut flowers to layer in the bottom right corner.
After die-cutting your leaves, emboss the solid ones and add accent stitching to the patterned ones. Chalk around the edges and to highlight the embossing. Fold them up the middle to add some dimension.
Using a hot glue gun, begin attaching the leaves around the edge of your circle base. Only apply glue at the very base of the leaves, to allow them to stand up a bit. Continue until the wreath base is full.
Begin layering embellishments in the bottom right corner.Starting with the glitter cut flourish and brown doily diecut. Then layer over the chipboard element, diecut flower with button, and filter flower with button center. Add other chipboard pieces, buttons and glittercuts around.
Poke a hole in the "so very thankful" glittercut wordart, and thread fine twine or embroidery floss through. Attach to the back of the wreath base in the center.
Cut a 20" length of the twill ribbon from the trim card, and attach to the back to use as a hanger.
