Today's Product Spotlight is one of my favorite things in the Love Birds collection—die cut papers. There's just something about a die-cut paper that adds a little spunk to a project. Take a look at what some of our Pocket Chicks did with these fun-to-play-with papers.
Calendar by Rachel Tucker
Rachel says, "I love this range of papers, it’s so colourful and fun! The die cut papers are beautiful and I thought the perfect “shape” to make flowers from. First I cut the centre from the Love Birds die cut paper – Floral and then hand stitched the Lilac House trim to it. The flowers are made from the outer part of the paper with the scallop. I have just cut it up and formed it into petals. The paper is easier to shape if you wet it a little first. I punched out a circle and stitched it to the centre of the flower. I thought it a perfect way to start the year by making a beautiful calendar for my scrapbooking desk!"
Family by Vicki Chrisman
Vicki says, "I love these papers! Nothing better than having a fun shape for a base to your layout right? The shape, along with the fun design in the bottom corner, makes the layout so easy to put together and embellish. I adore this Love Birds line, and not always for creating layouts with "couples". There are lots of different "loves" in our lifes right? That is why I wanted to do a layout about "family love". The papers in this line have so many different cute shapes and elements you can use as is, or cut out to add to you projects. One of my favorite papers , "Circle of Love", is filled with these fun polka dots. I punched them out, and used the Double Alpha rub-on numbers as a fun way to share the number of people in their family. I added them to my layout with foam squares, for a little dimension."
You Melt My Heart by Greta Hammond
Greta says, "Athough I love using the full die cut papers, I wanted to change the look a bit on this layout by using just a portion of the paper. By using only the bottom third, I thought it made a nice anchor for my photo strip while still providing some visual interest. I also created the heart embellishment by cutting a heart in a few descending sizes, folded them in half and the stacked them. A very simple easy way to get a bit of dimesion."
Big Girl by Brenda Hurd
Brenda says, "I decided to cut the circle in half and use it on the top and bottom of the focus of my layout which left me the center to use on another project! There are so many different things you can do with the circle die cuts. I love the yellow and red polka dot and felt it helped me draw the bright colors out of the other paper."
Thanks for stopping by! Come back again tomorrow to get to know another one of our Pocket Chicks.
