Our Hot Chocolate Die Cut Paper is in the spotlight this week. The yummy designs and fun die cut shapes are sure to make it one of your favorite papers this Holiday Season! Take a look at how our design team creatively put these lovely papers to use!
Baby It's Cold Out! by Trish Harwick
Trish says, "The scallop die cut really reminded me of a giant snowflake, so I set to work scoring it in half vertically and then in half again to get 4 equal parts. Then I opened it back up and scored it along the diagonal of each quarter and then cut into each score to separate the 'arms' of the snowflake. Next, I accordion folded each section to add depth. Finally, I sewed it to the background and added glitter glue! A perfect snowflake backdrop for the photos of my girls bundled up in their coats!"
Plume by Benedicte Raphalen
Benedicte says, "When I saw this Hot Chocolate Die Cut Paper, I immediately thought about this photograph of our kitten named Plume (it’s the French name for Feather) because her fur definitely matches the warm colors of this paper. I dedicated this first project to her because I wanted to welcome her in her new home."
Hot Chocolate by Leah Farquharson
Leah says, "Last winter, I decided to start making my own hot chocolate mix. We had so much more cooler weather than was normal for us, so we got to enjoy it a lot. When it gets even a little bit cool outside, the first thing our boys ask for is hot chocolate, now! I wanted to have a spot to keep the recipe in my scrapbook, so I decided the Hot Chocolate line was a perfect way to do it. When I pulled out the scalloped die-cut paper, I decided to off-center the piece on my background. Then I trimmed off the excess, and used one of the extra pieces as an accent layer underneath my hearts and title!"
The Dog Whisperer by Janis Medina-Maghinay
Janis says, "Using a craft knife, I carefully cut out the images of the New Bird Paper and made it the base of my Hot Chocolate Bracket Die Cut Paper. To highlight more the shape of the die cut paper, I did some faux stitching on its edges using a paper piercer and a white pen. I lightly misted on my die cut paper too using watercolors just to make my background more interesting."
Winter 2009 by Lisa Saunders
Lisa says, "I've made a Winter Mini Book using the Die Cut paper for my book cover. The top and bottom of the Hot Chocolate die cut paper have been trimmed off and the center piece has then been folded in half to make the cover of the book. I've cut some rectangular pieces of paper from the same Hot Chocolate collection that will fit inside to form the pages. These also need to be folded in half. The left over pieces of the die cut paper can be stuck onto a couple of the pages. I've punched some holes through the center of the book. It can then be laced up so it's all held together. The book is now formed. I've then decorated it using the Hot Chocolate papers and stickers. I really love this paper collection. It has a real wintry feel, but with a warm feeling at the same time. Perfect for my Winter Mini Book with our happy family memories."
Gorgeous projects aren't they?! Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to come back tomorrow for a Designer Spotlight!
