Miss Fancy Pants Designs: Product Spotlight: Like Father Like Son Cards

Got boys? This week's Product Spotlight is the perfect combination of edgy and masculine. With 12 different designs on one side and a hip polka-dotted pattern on the other, the Like Father Like Son Cards are great for a wide variety of subjects and projects (even non-boy projects).

Time Out by Amy Peterman
I love the word bubble on the cards paper. When I saw it, I knew I had to use it to record one of the many funny things my daughters say. Well, Josie came up with a great one the other day. She announced, "I wanna go time out!" Usually I'm the one to tell her she needs a time out, but she took it upon herself to make that decision. Too funny! So, I took her quote and used it as the title of my layout, using the word bubble as part of the title. I also used part of one of the cards to record where we were and the year (to the right of the title).

Rock Star by Anne Jo Lexander
Anne Jo says, "What I truly love about the cards-papers is that they usually make it so easy to whip up a card in a snap. So many card-esque motifs to chose between! And you don't have to stick to the "logical" lines either - for the card used as background I actually added/cut a part of the next card as well - the upper scalloped border - it's sort of belongs to the next card. The title was cut out from another card as well - so you could say the cover of this card is made outta three cards from the paper (um, am I saying cards too often? :p). For the inside I cut out a lined paper from the same collection - it's lined, decorative and matches the rest of the card. Yay!"

Backpack Tag & Card by Cindy Tobey
Cindy says, “I love this masculine collection and knew it would be just perfect for my son’s backpack tag this school year. I used a clear badge holder (you can buy these at an office supply store) to protect the tag from wear and tear, lamination works great too. I combined two of the cards to create the front of the tag. I hand stitched the felt stars to the outside of the plastic badge holder. For the back of the tag I added a cute photo of my son – you could also add personal info here. I used the “Rock Star” card to decorate a special greeting card that I will sneak into my son’s pencil box, to wish him well on his first day of third grade. I added a pencil loop with some Fancy Pants ribbon so that I could attach a cool new mechanical pencil to the card – my son loves mechanical pencils – especially orange ones!”

Kay used several cards on her layout. She says, "The title is made up of three cards. I cut out the circle, the stars, and altered the 'my Hero' card."

Stay Together by Staci Taylor
Staci explains, "One of the many things that I love about Fancy Pants Products is how well the different lines work together. I combined patterned papers from the Road Show and Kraft Kuts lines for my layouts, and I also found that an image from the Like Father Like Son cards sheet worked itself in perfectly, too! I cut out the oval bookplate image from the Cards sheet to house my title on. I loved how this enabled me to bring a pop of orange in (to tie in my background), and it was the perfect size for my title. I then attached ribbon to both sides and used some pop dots for added dimension."
