This week Kay Rogers shares a beautiful vintage inspired project with us. She used our brand new, Artist Edition Metal Frames, to showcase some lovely photos that she took of her daughter, Jenna, wearing vintage hats.
Supplies:
Artist Edition: Metal Frames Set 1
Artist Edition: Metal Frames Set 2
Artist Edition: Metal Frames Set 3
RoadShow: Alpha Sticker
RoadShow: Card Kit (I used some of the stickers from this set.)
RoadShow: Element Stickers
RoadShow: Rub-ons
RoadShow: Tags and Titles
Instructions:
To bring out the texture of the frames, Kay used "Rub and Buff" on them which gave them a lovely Patina finish. (See photo below.)
Kay printed out some photos to fit the dimensions of the frames. Tip: If you want a true size, make sure when you crop the photo in your photo editing software that your resolution is 300.
Next, Kay trimmed the photos and papers using the handy templates that come with each frame. Kay says, "I had worried about this step, but with the template it took no time at all and they fit perfectly!" She used a craft knife for this step.
Kay then inked the edges and adhered the photos and papers into the frames. She embellished them with stickers and rub-ons from the Road Show collection, as well as some crystals.
Kay filled each frame with Ranger's Clear Accents. This makes a clear coating over the picture, encasing it in the glue. She outlined the frame with a line of glue, then filled it in the rest of the way. If you see any bubbles, pop them with a pin. If some of the bubbles linger, no worries, it will just add to the vintage charm. Let dry overnight.
If desired, add jump rings to the frames as well as ribbon. You can display these frames on a decorative jewelry stand. Kay found the two shown here (1st photo and photo below) at Marshall’s.
For a fun variation you could add one of the frames to a necklace.
You could add a couple more for even more fun!
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back on Thursday for our Product Spotlight!
