Hey guys! It's Laura Craigie here today, and I'm excited to share three different cards with you today, all using just Patterned Paper, no embellishments! I adore embellishing my projects but sometimes there is a real beauty in keeping things simple, and well, it's cheaper too! I pulled out my 12x12 papers from the Down by the Shore line and went to work.
There are a few different ways I like to dress up paper only cards, and really make them shine. The first is embossing them! This works the best when you have a very subtle pattern on the paper so the two designs aren't competing with each other. I used the light blue "B" side of the patterned paper for this card, and embossed it with stripes at the bottom.
Another idea is to fussy cut images out of the paper like I've done on the octopus for this next card. I then adhered it with foam adhesive for additional dimension on the card which could have felt flat otherwise. I also trimmed the width of the card down 1/2" which allowed me to have a fun overhang and still fit in a standard envelope.
This last card uses dies and punches which are a great way to create your own embellishments. I again chose to use a subtle "B" side red paper and punched the notebook border at the bottom, and those two cute hearts out.
I hope these cards help you feel inspired to see what you can do with patterned paper only! I hope you share your projects if you do. :)
Thanks for stopping by today!!
