Hi, everyone! It’s Izzy Anderson on the blog today with a layout and card based on the same sketch.
My projects were inspired by the Strips patterned paper from the Down By The Shore collection.
I started my layout by cutting the strips apart and rearranging them on the navy blue (B side) of Down By The Shore Saltwater paper.
I left a little space between each strip so the navy blue would show through, then added zig zag stitching to tie each row together. I love using the strips like this. It’s a great way to add bits of color, pattern and pop to my projects.
The patterned paper strips form the background of the sketch, then I added other elements to complete the design.

The Sunshine patterned paper is a happy backdrop for a summer page. The title piece and banner die cut set a fun tone and the tags provide the perfect place to add phrase stickers, alphas and decorative elements.

The card follows the same design as the layout: paper strips on the bottom with a larger patterned paper piece on top. To finish the card, I added an embellished bag and tag combo, similar to those on the layout. Flair from the new What A Wonderful Day collection adds a fun pop of color and depth.
Thanks for joining me today on the Fancy Pants Designs blog! We’d love to see your card or layout featuring patterned paper strips. Feel free to link your projects here in the comments or post them on our Facebook page.- Izzy
