Monique's page instantly stood out to me. I love the layering, the misting and the artsy feel of this layout. I liked the idea of creating a page with two very similar photos too.
Simply Striped by Monique Liedtke
Just before one of my kids has a birthday, I like to document a few of their facts right now. So as Louis (my baby) is turning nine this month, this is his page.
Turning Nine by Lisa Saunders
I wanted to create the papers behind the photos like Monique did, so I have taken several patterned papers from both the Love Birds and the Trick or Treat collections. They've been cut into different length strips and finished off with different border punches at the ends.
For my strips accross the center I used strips from the Love Birds papers and two of the Journal Notes from Trick or Treat. These were perfect for my facts and figures that I wanted to add.
I really like being able to adapt my products to fit in with my pages. I really wanted a red title for this layout, so I've used the Alpha Stickers from the Love Birds collection and colored them over using a marker pen in red. My heart page accent was cut out from one of the coordinating papers, stuck on with a dimensional foam pad and glossed over with glossy accents.
To finish off my lift, I really liked the top left embellished corner of Monique's layout and chose a rub-on from the Trick or Treat collection for my boy themed page. This suited my layout much better. And rather than misting, I've taken a red mist and just flicked to make a few splatters of ink.
Thank you Monique for the inspiration you gave me. I love your ideas and your style.
p.s. Come back this afternoon for our third Winter Release sneak peek that is sure to bring out the artist in you!

Lovin this one! A while back I was looking for a birthday card for a friend. I wanted a real ball busting card. I had zero luck finding what I was looking for. I told a group of friends about this problem one night while we were having a few drinks. We proceeded to get smashed and make up a bunch of greeting cards we found funny. I had been writing down the cards we made up and the next morning I read them. Much to my surprise the cards were still funny even when sober.
