Hi, my name is Rachel Tucker and I live in New Zealand with my husband Steve and our two little girls (Jessica, 8 and Abby, 6).
A passion for “crafty” things (like my Nana teaching me to crochet when I was 7) and a love of photography has evolved into an obsession for scrapbooking. I adore paper, fabric, frills, lace, anything vintage and everything girlie.
Q: What is your favorite Fancy Pants product?
A: I can’t possibly choose just one product. I am in love with everything “Fancy” from the patterned papers to the buttons, trims and the “Glitter Cuts.” Okay so the “Glitter Cuts” might be my favorite! BUT the patterned papers come in a close second.
Q: What is your favorite technique?
A: I would say incorporating stitching, either by machine or hand on my pages. A page feels finished when I “stitch” on it.
Q: How long have you been scrapbooking?
A: It would be a cliché to say “all my life” but I think that’s an honest answer. My report cards way back from when I was at school, state that I spent too much time on the title page and not enough time on the inside content! I made a “scrapbook” album with our engagement photos and cards before I even knew what scrapbooking was.
Q: What kind of scrapper would you consider yourself to be?
A: My work tends to have a fresh, vintage vibe, but often changes with the products I’m working with. Layers of paper, fabric and embellishments, with hand and machine stitching thrown in for good measure is what you’ll find on my designs.
Q: Where do you find inspiration?
A: I am not always looking for inspiration, it tends to find me! A window display while out shopping, sometimes in a magazine, sometimes while reading blogs. I especially love to read non-scrapbooking, vintage inspired blogs for inspiration.
Q: What time of day do you usually scrapbook and where?
A: Usually during the day, while the kids are at school, I play with product in my tiny “studio.” It might be small but I make good use of the space I do have. I store my embellishments, ribbons and flowers in vintage jars and glass containers. I have some cute little spice jars that hold pins, brads, and tiny bits and bobs. They look pretty and I can rummage through them to find what I need. It’s so much fun...like a little treasure hunt.
Q: What type of camera do you use?
A: I have a Canon EOS 50D
From my family to yours, I wish you and your family peace and joy over the festive season and in the year to come.
