Flowers are all the rage right now, and I thought I would expand on an idea I saw from the amazingly talented Rhonna Farrer. I wondered whether the technique she used with fabric flowers would work with ribbon, or more specifically, ric rac. I thought these flowers could not only be used on a layout, but could also be used with a clip and attached to a shirt or even to a headband. The possibilities are endless!
Supplies:
FP Ric Rac
FP Chipboard Letters
Lilac House: Needlepoint paper
Lilac House: Tapestry paper
Lilac House: Lavender Leaves paper
Lilac House: Rose Damask paper
Lilac House: Garden Gate paper
Instructions:
First, the supplies. You need a base for the flowers, and I use a circle cut out of white felt. I actually use my Coluzzle for this step. You also need ric rac and Fabri-Tac, an adhesive used for fabric.
Start by dabbing some glue right in the center of the circle. Fold down the end of the ric rac and pinch. This adhesive dries very quickly, so it will take less than a minute.
Then run a bead of the adhesive in a semi-circle and fold the ribbon into a circle, pinching it down as you go.
Repeat that step several times until you have the size flower you desire.
Don't worry if you have extra felt. Just trim around the outside of the flower to remove the excess. Here is a view of the back after I trimmed it.
Here are three I did for my layout. I used both big and small ric rac from Fancy Pants. I messed up on the brown flower and you can see the middle, so I decided to add a center. You can add brads, buttons, jewels...whatever you heart desires!
