Fancy This: Big League Ball layout

This week's project is from Greta Hammond. She created a fun layout to showcase photos of her son at a Major League Baseball game. I love the masculine feel that our new That Boy Kraft Kuts collection give this layout.

Supplies
Kraft Kuts Be Dotted
Kraft Kuts Star Dotted
Kraft Kuts Arrow Half Bracket
Kraft Kuts Blues Alpha Stickers
Harvest Felt (brown scallop)
Daily Grind Printed Chipboard Shapes (yellow stars)
Daily Grind Buttons
yellow cardstock
twine

Instructions
1. Use KK Be Dotted as the background for the layout.
2. Layer KK Star Dotted on top and then machine stitch around the circle.
3. Mat photos with cardstock and adhere to layout.
4. Cut corner from KK Arrow Half Bracket to house your title. Mat it with yellow cardstock and add to bottom right corner of layout.
5. Make title using KK Blues Alpha Stickers.

6. Tie twine around a strip of brown scalloped felt and adhere under main photo. Finish with a yellow chipboard star from Daily Grind Printed Chipboard Shapes.
7. Add journaling strips printed on yellow cardstock.
8. Finish embellishing page with circles cut from KK Arrow Half Bracket, blue button and more printed chipboard stars.

Product Spotlight: Summer Soiree Stamps

Now that summer is in full swing, we just had to spotlight our Summer Soiree 10 x10 circle stamps.

Not only are these stamps perfect for layouts and projects featuring your summer memories, they also work great for those everyday moments too (see Ronda's at the bottom of this post).

Michelle used several of these fun stamps (flowers, scalloped border, arrow) to accent her beautiful layout of her kids playing in the summer sun.

123 Slide by Cindy Tobey.
Cindy makes a splash in this layout about her son on the slip-n-slide.

Cindy used two of the wave stamps, which she overlapped. She then sprayed mist (Cindy used Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist) over the top for a splashed look.

Cindy also used the scalloped border stamp, stamped on cardstock and then cut out as an accent.

Nikki used the swirly wave and butterfly stamps to embellish this pretty layout of her daughter.

Ronda used the label stamp, circle journal, scalloped border, dotted border, and stars on her layout about her daughter's good friend. Don't you love how Ronda stamped the circle journal stamp three times in different colors, giving her self plenty of space for journaling?

Designer Spotlight: Liana Suwandi

This week we learn a little more about Liana Suwandi, one of our amazing design team members!

Q: What time of day do you usually scrapbook and where?
A: Before my twins were born, it was so easy for me just do it whenever I felt like it. But now it’s really a challenge. I, sometimes use their naps or night time after the kids have gone to bed.

Q: What is your favorite Fancy Pants product? 
A: It has to be the pattern papers. As of now, I've fallen in love with the Kraft Kuts and Delight lines.

Q: Where do you find inspiration?
A: My inspiration usually come from photos, magazines and song lyrics.

Q: What is your favorite technique?
A: Without a doubt, stitching will be my number one favorite technique. I feel my layout is not complete without some stitching.

Q: If someone was to walk into your scrap room/area right now, what would they find?
A: A mess everywhere. Diapers, sippy cups, small toys, and ribbons would be on the floor. But, I tend to clean up after I finish one project.

Fancy This: Dad Banner

We hope all of you enjoyed Father's Day yesterday. Did you get some great photos of the kids with dad? Here is lovely way to display one of those special photos and honor dad in a festive way. Nikki Bellish created this beautiful banner and gives us instructions below for how to create your own.

Supplies:
Summer Soiree: Wave
Summer Soiree: Cards
Summer Soiree: Lounging
Kraft Kuts Number Bracket
Kraft Kuts Stripey
Summer Soiree:10X10 Circle Stamps
Mixed Media Flower Book
one 5X7 photo
black embossing powder
dark blue Cardstock
Craft Wire
wooden rod
paint

Instructions:
First piece:
1. Take one piece of the chipboard from the Mixed Media Flower Book.
2. Cut the chipboard in half, and cover the chipboard with the Summer Soiree: Wave Patterned Paper.
3. Cut into the rounded part of the Kraft Kuts Numbers die cut paper at a diagonal.
4. Glue everything together, and distress the edges.
5. Stamp on top of the Kraft Kuts Numbers paper, with black embossing powder.
6. Remove the guard of a large corner punch, to create a large scalloped edge on dark blue cardstock.
7. Glue the scalloped edge to the back of the chipboard.
Second piece:
1. Cut a triangular shape out of Summer Soiree: Wave paper. No need to measure.  
2. Use the large corner punch to create some more large scalloped edge borders, and place them along the edge of the piece.
3. Stamp the scalloped border stamp at the top of the triangular shape, and use the same embossing powder to emboss your stamp.
4. Place the 5X7 photo on your banner.
5. Use a Die cut machine to make your DAD letter's out of the Summer Soiree: Lounging and Summer Soiree: Cards, patterned paper. Layer them and glue them together, then place the letter "A"onto your photo.
Third piece:
Repeat same steps as the first piece.
To Assemble:
1. Paint wooden rod.
2. Die cut some stars and attach them to a wire. To spiral the wire, wrap around the wood rod and pull gently down.
3. Punch whole's in each side of each piece of the banner, and attach them to the wire. Wrap the other end's of the wire to the wooden rod. 
4. To hang the "D" letter's, punch a whole in the top part of the letter, and attach letter's to the bottom of the mixed media chipboard. 
5. Evenly space out your pieces.

Product Spotlight: On A Whimsy Notebook

This week the spotlight is on our On A Whimsy Notebook. This little book comes with 24 pages of 12 different whimsical designs in 4 different shapes. The largest pages are 5" x 8" and the smallest approximately 4" x 4 1/2".

I love that she machine stitched a paper ruffle around the outside of the notebook page. She also used a page from our Delight Notebook cut in half and layered under her framed photos.

Fancy This: Bless This Home Guest Book

Amy Peterman created this beautiful Guest Book for today's Fancy This project. Amy and her family recently moved, and with this lovely book, she will be able to keep a record of all who visit them in their new home! Such a fun idea that would also make a wonderful house warming gift for someone. Amy shows us how she made her Guest Book below.

 

Supplies used:
Storybook (11 x 8.5)
Say It Simple Chipboard Letters
Lotsa Letters Chipboard Letters
Kraft Kuts 1 Die Cuts
Kraft Kuts Red Gold Alpha Stickers
Kraft Kuts Embellish Boy Stickers
All Fall Woven Ribbon
Fashion Sense Pin
Bag-O-Tags
Other supplies:
Glimmer Mist
Tiny Alpha Stickers
Paint Dabber

Instructions:

1. Place chipboard letters (Amy used a mix of Say It Simple and Lotsa Letters) on the front cover of storybook.

2. Using Glimmer Mist, spray over the chipboard letters and storybook cover.

3. Punch out one of the houses from the Krafts Kuts 1 Die-cuts and place it on the back cover of the storybook (Amy placed it printed side down so she could use it on the front cover later). Spray with more Glimmer Mist.

4. Allow Glimmer Mist to dry and remove house die-cut and chipboard letters. Using a paint dabber, paint around edges of storybook.

5. Apply border sticker from Kraft Kuts Embellish Boy Stickers to bottom of front cover.

6. Apply Kraft Kuts Red Gold Stickers.

7. Apply tiny alpha stickers.

8. Cut out label sticker from Kraft Kuts Embellish Boy Stickers and cut it in half. Apply one half to the top edge of front cover.

9. Adhere house die-cut.

10. Tie All Fall Woven Ribbon around front cover and place pin and tag near the knot. Hand write on tag and label.

Product Spotlight: Delight Stamps

This week we bring you the Delight Stamps, a versatile clear stamp set that coordinates with the Delight collection.

Our designers came up with some really cools ways to use these stamps and they are sharing them here with you today.

Anne Jo Lexander uses the beautiful flourish stamp included in the Delight Stamps for the "front doors" of this pretty card.

From This to This by Staci Taylor.

Staci used a watermark ink on the wing stamp, stamped it twice on orange paper, heat embossed the wings with UTEE and then cut them out. She then added glitter to the wings to give them a little shimmer. Beautiful!

To make her chipboard arrows appear grungy looking, Staci first covered them with two different colored inks. Then she used the dot border stamp on top of the inks for a cool effect.

Michelle used the wing stamps from this set as well. She stamped the wings onto transparency for a light fluttery look. She also used the journaling spot stamp.

Rub A Dub by Anne Jo Lexander. Anne Jo used the one of the stamps on her tag for nice background pattern.

17 Years by Ronda Palazzari. Ronda used several of the flower and heart stamps to create the decorative elements on this page about her and her man.

 

Ronda used a clear embossing powder with the heart stamps for this cool effect...

Designer Spotlight: Kay Rogers

This week the lovely Kay Rogers is our designer in the spotlight.

Q: What is your favorite Fancy Pants product? 
A: Wow. Only one? Really? OK, the thing I love the most is the papers. The colors, the designs . . . amazing.

Q: What is your favorite technique?
A: I like to ink a lot. I love the look of sewing on a page, but the sewing machine scares me. 

Q: How long have you been scrapbooking?
A: I started Scrapbooking when my youngest was turning one, so it’s been almost 6 years now.

Q: Where do you find inspiration?
A: Everywhere. I buy all of the magazines and look at online galleries in my free time. What inspires me to create a page though is a good picture. A really good picture. That’s my starting point each and every time.

Q: If someone was to walk into your scrap room/area right now, what would they find?
A: They would find a relatively clean space. I redid our formal living room into a family room/scrapbook room last summer, and because it’s the first room you see when you walk in our house, which means I have to I keep it neat. Plus I am one of those people who has to put away everything from one project before starting another.

Q: What do you listen to or watch while scrapbooking? 
A: I am a Gilmore Girls FANATIC. I love that show, and have all seven seasons on DVD. So I usually have my little portable DVD player going on my scrap table and listen to the girls. I’m not a big music person while I scrap.

Q: What time of day do you usually scrapbook and where?
A: During the summer I scrap early morning before everyone is awake and late at night once everyone is asleep. During the school year it’s whenever I get a spare moment, mostly weekends at night. I scrap in my scrap space, but in the summer, I sometimes drag everything out onto our sun porch.

Q: What type of camera do you use?
A: I have a Canon 40D and am in love with it. I just got the 24-70L lens, and I am amazed at the clarity of my photography now.
