Fancy This: Christmas Tree Pillow

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time to deck the halls with all those gorgeous Christmas decorations. And speaking of gorgeous decorations, check out this Christmas Tree Pillow created by Ronda Palazzari! This would make a great gift for someone, or a wonderful addition to your own holiday decor. Ronda shares with us how she made it, and it's actually pretty easy!

Supplies:

Fancy Pants Buttons
Red Ball Trim
Fabric
Pillow Form or Stuffing
Liquid glue
Embroidery floss

 

1. Lay out buttons in tree pattern on one side of the fabric. 

 

2. Glue down buttons to hold in place.

3. Stitch buttons with floss for an added touch.
4. Next pin red ball trim around edge of the fabric with it facing inward.
5. Stitch ball trim down with basting stitch.
6. Place fabric right sides together & stitch around edges leaving an opening.
7. Flip pillow form right side out and stuff.
8. Stitch opening closed.

Fancy This: So Blessed Frame

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, many us have been thinking about the blessings in our lives. Liana Suwandi has captured her greatest blessing—her family—in an On-Display Frame. What a beautiful reminder of all that's important in life. Happy Thanksgiving!

Supplies:
On Display - 6x8 White Frame
Patterned paper All Fall: Multiply
Pattern paper All Fall: Recess
Patterned paper Delight: Spice
All Fall: Embellishment Kit
Christmas Magic: Buttons
Kraft Kuts 1 Die Cuts
Cardstock
Decorative scissors
Glue dot
Pearl jewel
Journaling tablet
Corner punch
Font (your choice)

Instructions:
1. Cut pattern paper from All Fall: Recess to fit the frame (Liana uses the 6x8 frame here).
2.  Cut teal cardstock 5.5”x7.5”, punch corner side and using border punch upper crest on the right side.
3.  Using decorative scissors, cut paper from All Fall: Multiply and adhere this on top of teal cardstock.
4.  Before print out photo, I added the title “So Blessed” from a fonts cd.
5.  Print photo with the size of 4”x7” as shown.
6.  Add cut outs, buttons, brad, pearl jewel as shown.

This week we're taking a closer look at our Dancing Bracket Transparency and Rainbow Scallop Transparency from the Dancing Girl collection. These cute and colorful transparencies are perfect for projects and layouts about your favorite girls!

 

 

Immaculate Conception by Staci Taylor

Staci used the Rainbow Scallop Transparency for this fun layout about her daughter. Notice that she added some paper flowers over the printed design in the lower right corner. What a fun detail! I love the dimension that it adds to the transparency!

Fancy This: 2009 We Give Thanks Album

Today's Fancy This blog project is sure to help you count your blessings. Cindy Tobey designed this festive mini album to capture what her family is thankful for this year. Each member of her family has their very own page to record what they are individually thankful for. What a great keepsake and reminder of blessings from the past year! You could also make a book that would have room to record several years worth of thankfulness. Read on to see how Cindy created her album. 

Supplies:
All Fall: Buttons
All Fall: Fall Splendor paper
All Fall: In Line paper
All Fall: Penmanship paper
All Fall: Recess paper
All Fall: Spelling paper
All Fall: Strips paper
All Fall: Printed Chipboard Alpha
All Fall: Rubons

Instructions:
1. Cut pages from the Bracket Book in half and punch holes in the top edge for clip rings. Number of pages will depend on number of people in your family.
2. Use a clear page for the front cover. Add glitter cut, flower rub-on and chipboard numbers for the year to the front cover.
3. Cover pages with patterned papers as desired.
4. Add border strips and ribbon.
5. Add rub-ons, stickers and buttons.
6. Finally add photos (I used pictures from last year's Thanksgiving but will probably replace them with photos from this year's celebration.)
7. Your book is now ready for family members to record what they are thankful for at this year's Thanksgiving Day celebration!

Product Spotlight: Kraft Kuts: That Boy Die-cut Papers

This week's Product Spotlight focuses on our That Boy papers from our Kraft Kuts 2 collection. These die-cut papers come in three cool shapes and six great designs. Take a look at how two of our designers got creative with these papers.

Michelle used the Stars Bracket on the background for her page. Don't you just love the interesting  border it adds to her square layout?

Vårt Hus by Anne Jo Lexander
Anne Jo also uses the Stars Bracket on her page, although she only uses a portion of it at the bottom of her page. What a nice design element she has going on, with the repetitive stars (which she cut from the remaining portion of her paper, and stapled to her layout).

Fancy This: Christmas Plate

This week's Fancy This project is from Greta Hammond. She shows you how to create this beautiful Christmas Plate to decorate your home!

Supplies:
Christmas Magic papers (Chestnuts Roasting, Cards, Yuletide Greetings)
Chrimstas Magic Woven Ribbon
Christmas Magic rub-ons
Christmas Magic buttons
Christmas Magic Notebook Journal
Mixed Media Flower Book
wood plate and stand
holly berries
small pinecones.

Instructions:
1. Start with a wood plate. Paint around edges as well as the inside curve.

2. Cut a circle ring from "Chestnuts Roasting" to fit around outside ring of plate. Use the cut-out circle for the inside portion. Paint around edges. Adhere circle ring and inside circle to plate.

3. Trace "Christmas Magic Cards" onto chipboard piece of Mixed Media Flower Book. Cut out and adhere to chipboard piece and then adhere to center of plate.

4. Adhere bracket card from Christmas Magic Notebook Journal.

5. Cut a 1" strip of "Yuletide Greetings". Cut edges to fit inside, inside circle and adhere.

6. Use card from "Christmas Magic Cards", add phrase rub-on, ink edges and adhere to plate.

7. Use additional rub-ons from Christmas Magic as well as buttons to embellish.

8. Finally, tie Christmas Magic Woven Ribbon to a stem of holly berries. Use a glue gun to add plate. Finish by gluing two small pinecones around the holly berries.

Product Spotlight: Little Sprout Notebook Journal

We just love our Notebook Journals! Today we are taking a closer look at our Notebook from the Little Sprout collection. While this little book is filled with pages perfect for adding journaling to your scrapbook pages about baby, it can be used for so much more as two of our designers show us below!

 

Fresh & Clean by Amy Peterman

Amy used a page from the journal as a backdrop for her title, a great idea to help her title stand out on her sweet layout! Notice that she cut the shape out from the journal page rather than using the whole page with the torn edge. Amy also cut apart several of the journal pages and pieced them together to create the cute border along the bottom of her page. So fun!

Running Off Some Energy by Cindy Tobey

By using two of the journal pages on this layout about her (then) 9 year old daughter, Cindy shows us these journal pages are perfect to use for a variety of page and project themes. One of the pages frames a photo of Cindy's daughter. She cut the center from the other journal page and filled it with her title, a border strip and rub-on.

Fancy This: Wrapping Paper

With Christmas just under two months away, now is the perfect time to start thinking about how you will wrap all those gifts that you'll be giving. Amy Peterman shares with us a fun idea for making wrapping paper that you can get the whole family involved in! Amy's daughter, Hattie, shows us how. The result is beautiful, one of a kind gift wrap!

Supplies:
Craft paper
Various Fancy Pants Chipboard and/or Transparent Die-cut shapes
Happy Holidays Stamp Set #1 (trees & Merry Christmas)
Blissful Season Stamp Set (snowflakes)
Spray glitter mist
Ink pads

Instructions:

1. Choose desired shapes from Fancy Pants Chipboard and/or Transparent Die-cut shapes.

 

2. Spread out large sheet of craft paper and arrange shapes.

 

3. Spray glitter mist over shapes.

 

4. Remove shapes.

 

5. Stamp randomly with stamps.

 

6. Let dry.

 

7. Wrap gifts! (If desired and your packages are square/flat, the steps above can be done after the gift is wrapped.)
